The following organisations are friends of UKMFA and are doing amazing work to help individuals to uphold their right to informed consent, bodily autonomy and medical choice
The Autonomy Hotline provides low cost legal advice and practical support for patients and parents across the UK who find themselves in a disagreement with a health or social care professional, and need a point of contact for support and advice.
They support patients and parents with concerns about care facilities, social services referrals, family court, and hospital treatment.
The hotline is manned by a team of volunteers who have experience of advocacy, patient care, family law, and counselling.
My Medical Choice (MMC) was set up to protect its members' healthcare choices, putting them firmly in control of their bodily autonomy; helping them to not be subjected to medical treatments that they do not wish to have when unconscious, or unable to communicate.
MMC (for a small annual fee) has created a medical-emergency alert system for members that:
They have also created a comprehensive Advance Decision Notice (often known as a Living Will) that, when completed correctly, makes any directives stipulated in the document legally binding. Their medical-alert system warns emergency services that members have an Advance Decision Notice in place, and enables them to access it online.
For members concerned about the potential need for blood transfusions, MMC have also created a National Blood Donor Database of private blood donors. There is educational material and a consultation pack on 'own-blood and bloodless surgical procedures' to use for scheduled surgery appointments.
The Workers of England Union (WoEU) is a low cost and fully independent trade union, open to all workers across every industry, with a simple and vital mission - to protect your employment rights and support you in your workplace.
UKMFA worked closely with WoEU during Covid, including writing joint open letters, to help care workers threatened with Covid vaccine mandates. Since 2020, WoEU have provided much-needed practical and legal support to many healthcare workers and others facing threats to their bodily autonomy and medical choice.
Stephen Jackson, a solicitor at Jackson Osborne has been very active in fighting cases where individuals have had their right to informed consent and bodily autonomy threatened.
Stephen acted for and helped a mother defend her son, Tom - a physically healthy 24-year-old with a mental age of 18 months, who was chased by the authorities through the Court of Protection for 3 years to have the mRNA vaccine, even though he’d had Covid and nothing more than a sniffle.
Following the final hearing in July 2024, the Court finally accepted 'vaccination was not in his best interests'.
You can also view the many cases he has taken on since 2020 to uphold 'Freedom Rights'.
